Dr. Ricardo graduated in Medicine at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (1997), and then specialized in Ophthalmology in Rio de Janeiro. Subsequently, he undertook sub-specialization in the area of Glaucoma at the Center Hospitalier National d’Ophtalmologie des Quinze-Vingts, in Paris, France. He had improvement courses at the University of Oulu, in Finland, and at George Washington University, in the USA. After his return to Brazil, he completed his Master’s Degree in Collective Health and his Doctorate in Health.
Currently, in addition to an ophthalmologist and eye surgeon (cataract and glaucoma) in the city of Juiz de Fora – MG, Dr. Ricardo is a researcher at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora. The area of interest of his research includes new modalities for the treatment of glaucoma (with a focus on new surgical techniques), the impact of glaucoma and its treatment on the quality of life of patients and health economics studies.
He actively participates in academic life as a member of several medical societies and associations, as the author of books and scientific articles and as a speaker in the field of ophthalmology.
