Ophthalmologist and Full Professor of Ophthalmology at Escola Paulista de Medicina (EPM) Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP) since 2004, and also Prof. Advisor of the Postgraduate Course at the Department of Ophthalmology at EPM and CNPq Research Productivity Scholarship. He took the Specialization Course in Ophthalmology – Medical Residency, Master, Doctorate and Free Teaching at EPM – After the specialization / medical residency at EPM in Brazil, he complemented his training abroad, holding the Research Fellowship at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute – University of Miami , Institution that maintains a scientific exchange relationship until the present date. At the Faculty of Medicine of Jundiaí he was Head of Discipline and Adjunct Professor of Ophthalmology. At Escola Paulista de Medicina he was Head of the Department of Ophthalmology from 2004 to 2010 and Vice Head from 2018 to 2020. At Escola Paulista de Medicina she is coordinator of the Microbiology Laboratory in Ophthalmology of the same Department since 1997. At the Instituto da Visão he was president of the Administrative Council from 2012 to 2016. He participated and participates in the Executive Board of several supranational societies of the specialty: Associação Pan Americana de Ophthalmology, International Council of Ophthalmology and Academia Ophthalmologica Internationalis and commissions from the American Academy of Ophthalmology. At the American Academy of Ophthalmology he received the Achievement Award in 2005 and Senior Achievement Award in 2018. At the Pan American Association of Ophthalmology he was secretary from 1999 to 2007, Vice President from 2008 to 2010 and President for the term of 2013 to 2015. He is a member of national specialty societies such as the Brazilian Council of Ophthalmology, Cornea Society and the Brazilian Cornea Society and is a member of the Fiscal Council of the Brazilian Council of Ophthalmology in the 2020-2022 term. At Ophthalmology Care, she is an Ophthalmologist in the clinical area of corneal diseases, conjunctiva, infections and inflammations and in surgery she mainly works in corneal surgeries including corneal transplants, refractive surgeries of myopia, astigmatism and hyperopia, cataract and glaucoma surgeries at the São Paulo Eye Center Paulo where she is Director. It also participates in the clinical treatment of various inflammatory diseases and infections of the eye. It has 177 articles, 9 books and 95 chapters published. His lines of research (Eye infections-clinical laboratory studies, Eye surface diseases, Treatment techniques and surgeries applied to ophthalmology, Propaedeutics in ophthalmology? Cornea, Diagnosis and correction of corneal irregularities, and Scleral lenses for patients with irregular corneas), complications of refractive surgeries, corneal and cataract transplants, methods for visual rehabilitation of corneal changes, especially in keratoconus.
