Graduated in Medicine at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, UFRGS (1975). Master, Doctor and Post-Doctor in Ophthalmology, Escola Paulista de Medicina, Federal University of São Paulo, UNIFESP (1988/2008/2012). & # 10; & # 10; Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine at UFRGS. Coordinator of the Specialization Course in Ophthalmology at Hospital Banco de Olhos de Porto Alegre from its foundation in 1988 to 2014. & # 10; & # 10; Head of the Ophthalmology Service at Hospital Ernesto Dornelles in Porto Alegre since 2006. & # 10; & # 10; President of the Brazilian Society of Pediatric Ophthalmology in the period 2013-2015. & # 10; & # 10; President of the Pan-American Society of Oftalmología del Prematuro (SP-ROP) in the period 2015-2017 & # 10; & # 10; Member of the Editorial Board of the Brazilian Archives of Ophthalmology, of the Brazilian Journal of Ophthalmology and of the International Journal of Ophthalmology of China. Scientific Reviewer of the American Journal of Ophthalmology, British Journal of Ophthalmology, IOVS, Pediatrics, Neonatology, Eye, Online Brazilian Journal of Nursing, Revista do HCPA and UFRGS Medical School, Panamerican Journal of Public Health, from Acta Medica Lituanica, from the Jornal de Pediatria and from the Journal of the American Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. & # 10; & # 10; Operates in Ophthalmology with an emphasis on vitreous-retinal diseases. Its publication lines focus on diseases of the retina and vitreous, retinopathy of prematurity and prevention of blindness. He is leader of the PROROP Research Group: Program for the Prevention of Blindness by Retinopathy of Prematurity HCPA / UFRGS / UNIFESP.
