Author of two books: Initiation to Clinical Research (2015) and The Teaching of Ophthalmology in the 21st Century (2020). He holds a Ph.D. from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo – USP (2003) and a Full Professor from the Faculty of Medicine of USP (2008). He is currently an Assistant Physician at the Hospital das Clínicas of the Medical School of USP, Collaborating Professor at the Medical School of USP and Professor of Graduate Studies (PhD) at the Medical School of USP. He was Editor-in-Chief of the scientific journal: Revista Brasileira de Oftalmologia until 2014; Current Associate Editor of scientific journals: Clinics; Brazilian Archives of Ophthalmology and Brazilian Journal of Ophthalmology. Reviewer of journals: Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and Journal of Refractive Surgery. Member of the Ethics Committee for Analysis of Research Projects at Hospital das Clínicas da USP (CAPPesq). Secretary-General of the Brazilian Council of Ophthalmology (CBO) and Director of Publications for the Brazilian Society of Cataracts and Intraocular Implants. Professor Tutor of undergraduate students at FMUSP. Index H – Web of Science: 13 and Scopus: 15. Research Productivity Scholarship PQ-CNPQ. He is an ophthalmologist in the academic career, with a strong vocation for teaching and who has always liked research. In addition to university activity, producing and transmitting knowledge and skills to undergraduate students, residents and graduate students, he has been teaching the Phaco Emulsification Skills Transfer Course for 23 years, intensive and face-to-face, with a 3-day course, in which doctors from different parts of the country learn the theory involved in modern cataract surgery.
