PURPOSE: To evaluate the initial treatment of infectious keratitis, evolution and their correlation with laboratory tests. METHODS: 62 cases of infectious corneal ulcers seen in the Hospital do Servidor Público Estadual – São Paulo underwent Gramstaining and culture for bacterial and fungus. Treatment with fortified Cefalotine (50mg/ml) and Gentamicin (14mg/ml) or fluoroquinolone 0,3% was started. An intraocular infection is the most terrible complication after a trabeculectomy, usually with significant anatomical consequences and irreversible functional impairment. The case of a 40-year-old male patient with congenital glaucoma, submitted to a trabeculectomy on both eyes at the age of 13, is presented.
