ABSTRACT Cavernous sinus thrombosis is a rare, capricious condition, associated with the extension of infectious processes, which may originate from the middle third of the face, such as sinusitis that affects the paranasal sinuses of the face. Herpes Zoster ophthalmicus (HZO) is caused by a varicella-zoster virus infection which remains latent in the ganglion of Gasser until it is reactivated and compromise the ophthalmic division of the trigeminal nerve.
