ABSTRACT

Objective:

To evaluate the clinical and surgical results of patients undergoing corneal endothelial transplant surgery.

Methods:

Retrospective study in which medical records were reviewed from May 2016 to May 2023, to evaluate transplant indications, intra- and postoperative complications and survival of the graft.

Results:

Seventeen patients were included, 12 (70.6%) were female and the average age was 70.18. The main indication for corneal endothelial transplant surgery was pseudophakic bullous keratopathy (64.7%), followed by Fuchs dystrophy (23.5%). Regarding postoperative visual acuity, ten (58.8%) patients had vision greater than or equal to LogMAR 0.4 (20/50 in the Snellen table); five patients (29.5%) had vision better than or equal to 0.2 LogMAR (20/30 in the Snellen table); 58.8% of patients had no post-surgical complications.

Conclusion:

Corneal endothelial transplantation proved to be a technique with good visual results, improving visual acuity in a significant percentage of the patients evaluated.
