When quantity compromises quality: analysis of the processing of products in an ophthalmic surgery task forces

ABSTRACT
Objective:
To characterize the physical structure, resources and processes involved in processing healthcare products in ophthalmic surgery task forces.
Methods:
The document analysis was carried out on four files selected from the 25 available, following the inclusion criteria: they delt with the subject in its entirety and added new information. The data was analyzed using the Bardin method.
Results:
The data were organized into three categories: PPS Processing; Human and Material Resources; Physical Structure. There were failures in processing, irregularities in the use of materials and staff overload. The reprocessing area and facilities did not meet the guidelines.
Conclusion:
Given the importance of surgeries task forces for access to treatment and the population’s health, it is essential to have a more rigorous planning of future joint efforts, as well as the search and application of current guidelines in the processes carried out in order to avoid negative outcomes in future editions.
