ABSTRACT

This study reviews the scientific literature on global opinion surveys to analyze the perceptions and practices of eye care professionals in myopia management and prescription trends. Fourteen studies published between 2018 and 2024 were included, using search terms such as Myopia, Surveys, Attitudes, Opinions, Myopia Control, Management, and Progression. The results indicate a growing concern about the increasing prevalence of myopia, reflected in the broader adoption of evidence-based strategies, particularly behavioral interventions for progression control. However, a significant number of professionals remain hesitant to intervene or adopt new therapeutic approaches, even when supported by scientific evidence. Variations among professional groups were also observed, with some recent treatments lacking formal approval in certain countries. This study highlights the need for continuous education to promote the adoption of effective clinical approaches and ensure that patients have access to the best available therapeutic options.
