ABSTRACT
Circumscribed choroidal hemangioma is a rare, benign vascular tumor of the choroid that can cause severe macular complications and irreversible vision loss despite its non-malignant nature. We report the case of a 41-year-old patient with no significant medical history who presented with progressive visual loss in the right eye. Fundus examination revealed a circumscribed yellow-orange choroidal mass located along the inferotemporal vascular arcade, associated with serous retinal detachment involving the macula. Multimodal imaging findings strongly supported the diagnosis of CCH. As photodynamic therapy was not available, proton beam therapy was considered as the best alternative therapeutic option. This case highlights the importance of differentiating circumscribed choroidal hemangioma from amelanotic melanoma and other mimicking lesions and illustrates the role of proton beam radiotherapy as an effective alternative when photodynamic therapy is not accessible.
